Inspired by the Rockets Help Desk from RMHS, our Apps & Beyond elective classes thought they would create something similar for our school.

Gale Data Base Tutorial
This is a database site called Gale databases. A data base is a "structured collection of data held in a computer, especially one that is accessible in many ways". This site allows kids to safely research reliable information of many different topics. Gale databases includes electronic resources, and also eBooks which are difficult level books but have good information. Within the electronic resources and eBooks there are different topics to choose from to narrow down your searches. For electronic resources some examples are: Business, Biography, and General Reference, but the best for students in grades k-12 are K-12 Resources. For eBooks some examples are: Law, Education, Arts, Nation and World, and General Reference.
Gale PowerSearch allows you to search through all resources. After typing in what you searched you can narrow down your searches by selecting a publication date (last week, last year, etc.). Also document types, some examples are: article, brief biography, topic overview, and more. Also if you look up for example Ancient Egypt then you can narrow down your searches by clicking some of the related subjects and in this case some would be: Egyptian gods, Egyptian culture, and more. Lastly you can choose what media you would like such as: images, videos, audio, magazines, and more. If you select a source on Gale database to use it already has the citation for you. Overall Gale databases is a great reliable source with good information to use when working on school projects, or assignments.
