In this video I am showing you how to cite an image using bibme. This website is used to cite all sorts of things ranging from websites to text to images. By following these simple steps in this video you can create citations that will help give the deserved credit to the owner. It allows you to put citations in different format such as MLA, APA, Chicago and Turbian. This allows you great variety in how you cite something. By taking data and such from an image on wiki commons or using the information given on a document you can create an easy and useful citation for your needs.
As a student citations are a big part of my projects. To not cite something would mean to lose points and leave the owner of the document without their fair share of credit. This website bibme is very useful to students because through a simple step by step process you can create citations to help you on your project and to give credit. This website is very simple and it only requires a few things to make a decent citation. It is very easy to understand how it works and knowing what you require. Bibme for students creates an easy access to great simple and quick citations which is very useful for school work.

Command Prompt
Command prompt.
Many of the troubleshooting techniques you will find on the internet make use of the DOS or Command Prompt. This is how computers used to work before the mouse became common. You have to type in your commands. I will give you a quick overview of how the command prompt works. Initially it starts with showing you how to move around your file system. When it comes to running more advanced commands, this basic information will help because different commands need to be run from different directories. You should have a Command Prompt open when reading this page so that you can try the commands. Unless stated, you will not damage your data by just moving around your folders.
Opening a Command Prompt
There are two conventional ways to start a Command prompt. 1. Start, Programs, Accessories, Command prompt 2. Start, Run and type "cmd" (minus quotes) and press enter. On Windows Vista and Windows 7, a standard Command Prompt may not allow you to do everything that you need to. In that case you will need to use an elevated command prompt. The best way to start an elevated command prompt is to RIGHT click on the shortcut and choose, Run ad administrator.
Once you have Command Prompt open, you can type in commands such as, "Show.ip"
This will allow you to view your own ip, edit it to create online servers or websites, and allow you to code.
An interesting fact about Command Prompt, is that its the basic or default program file that hackers use to find other ip's or for the FBI and CIA to track criminals.
Command Prompt is definitely useful for students because it allows you to create online servers so you can have as many people on one server or program, at a single time. This is useful for students that are doing group projects so that they can post online to the servers where everyone will be able to see. This also helps students who want to pursue a career in coding, making websites, html, FBI or CIA analyzing and much more.
Google Drive and Students.
The topic I choose was Google Drive. Google Drive is an easy tool that lets you save important documents and files onto it. Google Drive comes free with your free G mail account. Drive lets you work on your files computer instead of having to work on the same computer over and over again. Another pro of using Google Drive is that if something happens to your computer for example, it breaks, or you accidentally exit out of the document you're working on nothing gets deleted because everything saves onto Google hard drive which has the nickname “The cloud”. Also everything you type saves automatically, so you don't have to keep clicking the save button. Google Drive is a great tool that students of every age can use with ease.
Middle school students can use Google Drive for a numerous amount of things. If they have an essay or a project they have to do for school Google drive is the perfect tool to help them, you have a choice of creating a document, spreadsheet, presentation, form, drawing, and a folder. Another great trait that Google Drive offers is that you can work on your essay or project at school and take it home with you, without using a flash drive. Google Drive can really help middle school students with whatever they are doing. You can even share your work with
other people so they can either view it or edit it too. That option is great for group assignments.
Google Drive also offers an activity bar that shows all the work you have done since you first started using Google drive. It also shows if anyone has shared their work with you so that you can only view it or edit the work too. You can also edit the way your drive looks and works. All middle school students should use Google drive.

Google Drive is a way to keep all your files organized. In this video I should you how to use Google Drive to make a slide presentation. First you will need a Google Drive account, then go to new and select Slides. You can pick a theme or you can leave it at simple. To add a title, click where it says add title. You can add notes on the bottom of the slide and they won't show up when your doing the presentation. You can add as many slides as you need. You can change the layout of the slide to a title slide, a title and body, a title and two columns. a title only slide, a only caption slide, or a blank slide. To add a slide press Crtl-M or go to slide at the top and press new slide. To delete a slide right click on it and press delete slide. And this is how to make a Google Slide Presentation.
Middle schools can use Google drive in many ways. They can use it for making projects like slide presentation and documents and forms and spreadsheets. Or they can use it to keep organized. They can create folders for each subject like english and science.

Diigo is an excellent source to use. It is great for education for many different reasons. You can use tags on diigo which are like one or two words that are related to the post. You also have a little place to organize your post called the library which is where you can save posts if you aren't done with them, you can put post there for the time being just if you don't want to post something right away maybe.
You can join into groups, maybe with your class, and you can join into more than one group at once which is pretty cool. When you are in a group you can see what everyone has recently posted and it could be an article on something that your class might currently be learning about and you can comment on their post and you can even like their post. You can post interesting things on what your class is learning about too, and everyone in your group will be able to see it. Well that's all I can say to pretty much sum up diigo for you. Diigo is an excellent source and I recommend you to try it if you already haven't.

Wikimedia Image Citations
(I recorded a video for creating citations for Wikimedia images, but it went missing.)
The video I recorded was about creating citations for Wikimedia images using BibMe in MLA format. I talked about where you could find all of the information you needed for the citation and how you can get the information into BibMe. You need to create citations if you want to correctly use images from Wikimedia, so this video is helpful if you don't know how to cite the image and/or if you don't know where to find the necessary information.
This video can help students easily cite images they get from Wikimedia and this can help them during school projects. A lot of school projects require images and citations for the images, so it's important to know how to do that. Teachers can also use this video to teach their students how to make a citation for Wikimedia, where to find the citation information, and even how to use BibMe.

Best of YouTube tutorial by Caroline Roscoe
This tutorial is showing you how to use the basics of YouTube. YouTube allows you to search video tutorials, movies, songs and more just by the click of a mouse. First, when you just arrive onto the homepage you will see a tool bar titled "Best of YouTube" this shows you videos that are popular on YouTube, allows you to download movies and watch music videos, as well as streaming TV shows etc.Next, YouTube can be used for uploading videos that you make at home, commenting on others videos, adding videos to your favorites list, and liking videos.
Parker middle can also use YouTube in many ways. One way for example is using it to create a project that can easily be seen by teachers and shown in classes for the school to see. Also, we can use YouTube for searching video tutorials to help us retrieve reliable information on what we are studying. Then we could use YouTube for watching the latest news stories to catch students up on currant events.

Exploring "World History In Context" in Gale Databases
Gale Databases is a paid-for website from Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners . You can access it from the Parker Edline homepage. Although it is a great source of information, you cannot access it when you are out of the state. So if you were in NH you wouldn't be able to access this information. This video will help you guide yourself through the World History In Context section of Gale Databases. I hope this will help.
This is a great source of information that you can use for free. Gale Databases has a huge library of information and facts you can use for projects, presentations, and other assignments.
Don't Be a work thief! Make a work cited list!
My tutorial on how to make a work cited list. A work cited list is a list where you put all of your citations and it's important to have at the end of a paper or presentation. This is very important and if you don't cite or you don't cite correctly you could get into trouble.
Although it is easy and doesn't take up much time a lot of people don't cite. To make your work ethical, to give the authors credit, and to get good karma are all great reasons to cite your work. And even if you cite your work you should do it right, you need to put all of the citations in order alphabetically. Make a work cited list to compile the entire citation collection.

Tagxedo Tutorial
This is a tutorial about Tagxedo. Tagxedo is a fun website like Wordle, that allows you to create word clouds. A word cloud is like a cloud of words that only include the words that you choose to type, but using Tagxedo you can change the the theme of the word cloud, the shape of the word cloud, and more. For example a shape of a word cloud could be: a horse, a dinosaur, or even a dog, and more. Tagxedo can be used for many different occasions. Such as a first day of school assignment, or after reading a book or watching a movie by selecting words that describe the movie or the book the best, and a project.
When creating a word cloud you can also change the theme, and the shape of the word cloud as I said in the first paragraph, but you can also change the font, orientation, and layout of the word cloud. In more depth, to change these five options about a word cloud you just simply have to click the respin button next to the choice of what you would like to change. Also by clicking the resipn button to the right of the word "all" it changes everything including: the theme, shape, font, orientation, and layout of the word cloud all at once. One unique feature about Tagxedo is how you can change the shape of the word cloud into a snowflake, a tree, a pumpkin, and even a reindeer. Also when you hover over one of the words in a word cloud it enlarges it to be able to read it better. Overall Tagxedo is a great website to use for a project, or even a class activity.

Introducing You: Using Gale Databases
Databases are available to Massachusetts residents and are a excellent choice when your doing research. Although using the Google Search might easier it may not be as accurate as a database.
Databases are good for students doing research. Students will usually see on databases e-books, current and old newspapers, magazines, journals and articles. Why should we use databases?
Description and Video Voice by Ryan A
Databases are good for students doing research. Students will usually see on databases e-books, current and old newspapers, magazines, journals and articles. Why should we use databases?
- It is very easy and quick to find information
- Data can be searched quickly
- Full Text articles mean you may be able to print out.
- Use a database when you want data that is very current. Many owners and writers of commercial databases update their data regularly . Would you want a engineering book that is 3 years old or a engineering database that is updated every month?
- Although you'd probably want a book if you were researching the history of South America you might use a database to look for online documents or encyclopedia articles to support your research and answers.
- Generally, use a database when you need to find specific information.

Gale Data Base Tutorial
This is a database site called Gale databases. A data base is a "structured collection of data held in a computer, especially one that is accessible in many ways". This site allows kids to safely research reliable information of many different topics. Gale databases includes electronic resources, and also eBooks which are difficult level books but have good information. Within the electronic resources and eBooks there are different topics to choose from to narrow down your searches. For electronic resources some examples are: Business, Biography, and General Reference, but the best for students in grades k-12 are K-12 Resources. For eBooks some examples are: Law, Education, Arts, Nation and World, and General Reference.
Gale PowerSearch allows you to search through all resources. After typing in what you searched you can narrow down your searches by selecting a publication date (last week, last year, etc.). Also document types, some examples are: article, brief biography, topic overview, and more. Also if you look up for example Ancient Egypt then you can narrow down your searches by clicking some of the related subjects and in this case some would be: Egyptian gods, Egyptian culture, and more. Lastly you can choose what media you would like such as: images, videos, audio, magazines, and more. If you select a source on Gale database to use it already has the citation for you. Overall Gale databases is a great reliable source with good information to use when working on school projects, or assignments.
This screen-cast is on how Pics4Learning is a great site for your images. I chose Pics4Learning because it is a safe free image library for everyone to use. Teachers and students can use thousands of copyright free images for anything you want to use it for. Each image you type in has a full citation that you can just copy and paste to Google Drive, Microsoft Word, etc. Another reason I chose Pics4Learning was because it was so easy to maneuver and it was very simple to use.

Gale Databases
Gale Databases is a very useful source about learning about people, jobs, and basically anything. Gale databases are icons that you can click on and it brings you to a website. On the website you can search for people or anything else and most likely it will give you information. If its something not really famous, it wont give you any information on that topic. Each gale is on a different topic. So that its easier to find information you might want to search for. Some gales gives you a lot of information and others don't. So you have to use more than one gale to find information. Most of the gales have the same format and are set up exactly the same. So it should be easy to search once you get used to the format. Also there is no fake information on any gale website. Gale Databases is one of my favorite sources to find information on.
